Estimating the Improvements through Mitigation

forest stream

Mitigation is a complex issue for the regional decision-maker which may involve negotiation and compromise as much as enforcing legal restrictions. The ReVA toolkit can assist in this complex process by estimating how various mitigation strategies will affect both regional and local environmental quality. Often such information is needed to motivate cooperative responses from individuals and commercial enterprises.

The user is encouraged to develop a strategy using the different options below to see the resulting change in quality. Although the greatest results will occur when all possible options are used simultaneously, real world situations demand consideration of limited budgets and staff. The optimal strategy will use as few options as possible to effect the desired improvement.

After you have selected a strategy, you will see a map with the worst 20% of the watersheds, before and after your strategy is implemented.
